With over 500 hours of training Sheila has taught thousands of classes over the past seven years under the guidance of Julie Smerdon, Noah Maze, BJ Galvan, Lizzie Lasater, Lorin Roche, and Elena Brower. Sheila’s teachings are inspired by the great outdoors, her relationships, grief, and most recently motherhood. She lives and teaches from a place of compassion and it is her greatest hope that her offerings highlight the divine in all bodies, experiences, and challenges that life has to offer.
My practice helped me to overcome a long term struggle with anxiety and body image issues, as well as allowing me to feel more connected to the world around me. From this grew a great desire to share Yoga with others, so I made the decision to leave my decade long career as a Bookkeeper to pursue this passion.
Through teaching I aim to inspire those around me to live life to its fullest potential. My classes have an emphasis on building strength in the body, regaining and maintaining mobility, all while finding those moments of connected bliss & stillness throughout the practice. As well as Vinyasa Yoga, I also teach Barre, Restorative / Yin Yoga, Meditation, Kids Yoga and Acro with my partner, Rhys.
I have a great love of inversions & I enjoy the simple things in life, like getting outdoors to explore new places, travelling, reading, hanging out with my Italian Greyhound, Bambi and spending time with my loved ones. I have an ever growing collection of plants, and I am incredibly honoured to be a LululemonAmbassador for the James Street, Brisbane Store.
I have learnt that anything is attainable if you are willing to dedicate your mind + body + soul to it and look forward to sharing my journey in both business and life, with those who feel connected to what I do and what I stand for.
Carla’s passion for yoga began in Canada in 2011 as a daily stretch and warm up for snowboarding. She found by practicing yoga, every aspect of her life became more fluid, and everything began to fall into place.
According to Carla, “The more I practiced yoga, the calmer and more connected I felt, and everything in my life began to improve. I became less reactive to outside influences, and felt like I had finally gotten out of my head and back into my body.”
Carla completed her first Yoga teacher training in 2013 and hasn't stopped training, teaching, learning and growing since. Carla’s goal in every class is to help her students build mind-body connection, to help everyone feel and function as best they can, for as long as they can.
As a 500hryt and qualified acupuncturist, Carla draws on her knowledge of anatomy and alignment to ensure a safe and holistic practice for longevity. Her classes may challenge you. Not just physically, but also mentally. Learning to let go of expectation and break through the barriers of doubts and fears the mind often creates, allows the body the freedom to move with ease. When we release expectation from the mind and allow the breath to be our guide we find ourselves doing and experiencing things we never thought possible.
Rocio completed a 200 hour Hatha training in India in an Ayurvedic Ashram. 800 hour Certificate IV in Purna Yoga at Byron Yoga Centre. Modular 50 hour trainings in Yin Yoga, Remedial and Restorative Yoga. Currently studying a Diploma in Advanced Yoga Teaching, Business Management and Ayurveda.
Her teaching style is alignment focused with a calm, slow flow vibe and always includes breath awareness and functional movement strategies, finding a time to integrate a complete experience of asana, pranayama and meditation.
Luke has been training gymnastics, acrobatics for two decades and intends to continue for the rest of his life. He began taking a serious interest at the age of 15 when he began competitive trampolining. From there is was steady progression into gymnastics and rock-climbing and eventually parkour where he performed nationally and abroad.
It was during his parkour practice that he discovered the circus arts and finally found what has been missing in his physical pursuits. After some soul-searching he decided to move to China to complete a 3 year acrobatics degree in at the prestigious Beijing International Art School, specialising in the disciplines of Chinese Pole, Tumbling and Hand to Hand.
Since completing his circus training Luke has performed professionally as an acrobat around Australia and Internationally for companies including Universal studios and Cirque du Soleil. All the while Luke has maintained his passion for teaching while advancing his qualifications. In the past few years Luke has made a shift towards softer styles of acrobatics and yoga with the intent of applying his acrobatic knowledge to his yogic teaching and practice after completing his 300hr YTT in 2019.
I found my passion for movement at a young age and began my diploma in Dance which led to performance opportunities from theatre to support acts for singers. As my time came to an end my mind and body itched for further development leading me to my University degree in Dance also.
Teaching me how to move with the mind, using the breathe as an art, connecting with people silently using the body to communicate and working with all bodied peoples. Towards the end of my degree I decided to finish my performance based learnings by competing across the UK with Hip Hop dancing earning a title.
I have now been in Australia for nearly 4 years and am currently in the final stages of my Massage Therapist studies.
Your body homes you and I aim to keep your foundations healthy.
